From the original mantis issue

So I love the application but I am doing research and attempting to create the 3D model, however the cursor will get in the way a lot if you are tracing downward. I was wondering if there could be some sort of preference setting put in to hide most of the cursor and remove the paintbrush icon that appears below it. Thanks

Here's an image of this issue where the editor cursor icon gets in the way as it blocks view of the image data below the mouse position:

The segment effect cursor icon was an opaque image in the "Editor" module that was removed in 39283db. The newer "Segment Editor" module makes the white color transparent so the cursor icon does not block as much of the image.

However the cursor icon can still block some of the image which could be a concern to the user, however even the plain mouse cursor also blocks some of the image, so it is unclear if there would ever be a complete solution. The user states "preference setting put in to hide most of the cursor", which indicates that some bit of the cursor is fine with covering the image data, however unclear how much is too much. Unclear if the transparency added to the icon was enough of a fix. Maybe someone knows who the original poster of the issue "NWilkhawk"?

Indeed, the appearance of the cursor is improved. If further improvements are requested related to this then this issue can be reopened or a new issue can be created.
